TruHearing Hearing Aid Benefits
What Is TruHearing?
TruHearing manages hearing care benefits for over 85 insurance plans and their in-network providers. Some major insurance companies with TruHearing benefits include Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and VSP. Over 160 million people in the US have TruHearing benefits. Are you one of them?
What is a TPA?
A TPA is the acronym for third-party administrator. TPAs manage hearing benefits for insurance companies.
TruHearing Provider Near Me
TruHearing providers accept the rates and options covered by TruHearing so that you can get affordable, quality hearing care. American Hearing + Audiology is proud to be a member of the TruHearing network at our Kansas City hearing centers, Lincoln hearing center, Omaha hearing centers, Tulsa hearing centers, Little Rock, and Memphis hearing centers.
Is TruHearing Part of My Insurance Plan?
Calling us is the best way to answer this question. Our specialists are experts at verifying benefits and helping our patients maximize their savings. However, if you have a Medicare Advantage plan or employer-sponsored plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield or Humana, you may have hearing benefits through TruHearing. Benefits typically include hearing screenings, deep discounts on hearing aids, and hearing aid fittings.
Does Humana Cover Hearing Aids?
TruHearing is a TPA for many Humana plans that include hearing benefits. Depending on your plan and your choice of hearing aid, you may get full coverage for hearing aids. With other plans, you’ll pay a heavily discounted rate because your insurance provider shares in the cost of your chosen devices.
TruHearing Hearing Aid Benefits
If TruHearing partners with your insurer, they offer two plans:
TruHearing Choice
TruHearing Choice gives you access to various hearing aid technology levels and more brand options. Your co-pay depends on your plan. TruHearing Choice offers basic, standard, advanced, and premium hearing aids. Some plans have a $0 co-pay for some hearing aids.
TruHearing Select
TruHearing Select covers advanced and premium technology-level hearing aids. Co-pays vary with your specific plan but can be as low as $0.
Select plans may cost less but might restrict you to a specific hearing aid brand based on your insurance company’s choice. The Choice plan might be pricier, but it offers a broader selection, allowing you to choose the best devices for your needs. The specialists at American Hearing can help you determine what plan you have and what it covers.

TruHearing Hearing Aid Brands
TruHearing works with many hearing aid brands, including Phonak, Unitron, Starkey, ReSound, and their own private label, TruHearing brand (which is made by Signia). However, not all brands are available with all plans. Even within Humana hearing aid benefits, for example, there are variations in what brands are covered. Yet, you can count on the hearing providers at American Hearing + Audiology to help you find the right hearing aid for you, as well as your plan and your budget.
Are TruHearing Hearing Aids Locked?
All hearing aids purchased from TruHearing are unlocked, allowing you the flexibility to have them adjusted by any provider, not just TruHearing. This is in contrast to locked hearing aids, such as those from Miracle-Ear, which require adjustments to be made exclusively by a network of providers equipped with specific, proprietary fitting software.
