Phonak Audéo EON R Hearing Aids for Everyday Rooms
If you do most of your listening in ordinary rooms rather than loud ones, Phonak Audéo EON R hearing aids are the sensible end of the EON platform. They run the same operating system and the same connectivity as the Sphere models on a single chip, and they last longer between charges because of it. One Chip, and Why That Is the Point
The EON platform comes in two shapes. The Sphere models add a second processor dedicated to separating speech from noise. The R models do not, and that sounds like a downgrade until you look at what the second chip costs you. It draws power, so Phonak rates the Sphere at 22 hours of expected wear against the R’s 29. If your hard listening happens at a dinner table rather than in a crowded restaurant, the R spends its battery on you instead of on a problem you do not have. Four Levels, From Premium to Essential
What Phonak Audéo EON R Hearing Aids Do in Conversation
Audéo EON R comes in four levels, the E90, E70, E50 and E30, which Phonak labels Premium, Advanced, Standard and Essential. The E30 is the one worth noticing: it puts a first set of hearing aids on the current platform rather than on last generation’s leftovers. How the EON R Handles Speech in Noise
Speech handling on the R is tier-dependent, and this is where the levels genuinely differ rather than just costing more. StereoZoom 2.0 narrows the microphones onto the person in front of you, and Dynamic Noise Cancellation pulls the rest of the room down. Both sit on the E90 and the E70. SpeechSensor, which works out where speech is coming from before deciding what to do about it, is E90 only, and so is Speech Enhancer. Below that the aids still switch programs on their own, they simply do less shaping inside each one.
- AutoSense OS AI 8.0 picks the program for you across calm rooms, noise, music and the car, on every level including the E30.
- StereoZoom 2.0 and Dynamic Noise Cancellation sit on the E90 and E70, and are the clearest reason to move up a level.
- 20 fine tuning channels on the E90 and E70, 16 on the E50, and 12 on the E30, which is what your provider uses to shape the fit to your audiogram.
- Up to 38 hours on a charge, with 29 hours the expected figure in normal use.
- Works with the Phonak CROS E-R for single-sided hearing loss, which the Sphere models do not.

Longer Between Charges Than the Sphere
Phonak rates the Audéo EON R at 29 hours of expected wear and 38 at maximum, against 22 expected for the Sphere. The gap is the second chip, and nothing else about the battery differs. Both charge fully in about two and a half hours.
Connectivity Without a Middleman
Audéo EON R streams calls and audio straight from a phone, tablet or laptop on either operating system, with no clip-on device in between. It supports Bluetooth Classic Audio and Bluetooth LE Audio, and it picks up Auracast broadcasts in venues that offer them. Two devices stay connected at once, so a call on your phone does not cost you the sound from your laptop. RogerDirect works on every level without a separate receiver, and the TV Connector, PartnerMic and RemoteControl are all supported through the myPhonak app.

Ready For Anything
Audéo EON R carries an IP68 rating, which Phonak tests as an hour of immersion in a meter of fresh water and eight hours in a dust chamber. A hydrophobic coating sheds moisture on top of that. A full charge takes about two and a half hours, and fifteen minutes on the charger buys you roughly thirty more minutes of wear. Each aid weighs 2.4 grams.
