Two Chips, and One of Them Does Nothing but Speech
Most hearing aids run every job on one processor. Noise reduction, Bluetooth, feedback control and speech separation all draw from the same pool of processing power, so when a room gets loud the chip has to spend that power somewhere. Phonak’s answer in the Audéo EON Sphere is to stop making it choose. The ERA chip handles sound processing and connectivity. A second chip, HYPERSONIC, is dedicated to real-time speech separation and does nothing else. That split is the reason the Sphere models behave differently in a loud restaurant rather than simply louder, and it is the one thing that separates them from the EON R models. The same two-chip idea appeared a generation earlier in the Audéo Sphere Infinio, which we still fit.

How Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 Works
Speech separation happens continuously while you wear them. The hearing aids identify the voice you are oriented toward, hold onto it, and push the rest of the room back, adjusting as people move and the noise around you changes. Nothing needs to be switched on.

- 20 fine tuning channels on the E90 and E70, and 16 on the E50, which is what your provider uses to shape the fit to your audiogram.
- Up to 38 hours on a charge, so a long day plus streaming does not leave you watching the battery.
- An IP68 rating and a hydrophobic coating, tested against dust and against immersion in fresh water.

The Chip That Handles Everything Else
The ERA chip is the part that runs everything besides speech separation. Noise reduction, feedback control, program switching and the entire Bluetooth stack all sit here. Giving it that work is what frees HYPERSONIC to spend all of its capacity on one job.
Connectivity Without a Middleman
Audéo EON Sphere streams calls and audio straight from a phone, tablet or laptop on either operating system, with no clip-on device in between. It supports Bluetooth Classic Audio and Bluetooth LE Audio, and it picks up Auracast broadcasts in venues that offer them. Two devices stay connected at once, so a call on your phone does not cost you the sound from your laptop. RogerDirect works without a separate receiver, and the TV Connector, PartnerMic and RemoteControl are all supported through the myPhonak app.

How the Seven Audéo EON Levels Compare
Audéo EON comes in two families and seven levels, and the differences are not marketing tiers. Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 is what the Sphere name buys you, and it is absent from every EON R level. Ready For Anything
Audéo EON Sphere carries an IP68 rating, which Phonak tests as an hour of immersion in a meter of fresh water and eight hours in a dust chamber. A hydrophobic coating sheds moisture on top of that. A full charge takes about two and a half hours, and fifteen minutes on the charger buys you roughly thirty more minutes of wear, which covers the morning you forgot to dock them.
